Fly across the river from Regan Nat'l Airport.A good, small, spot for landboarding, if the grass is short. Goes in any wind direction.Fly just south of the statue, be prepared for lots of curious tourists.

I have riden (mt board kite) here a handfull of times and have been ushered away each time by Secret Service, Park Police or both. I'm not certain there is a specific law broken, I think they just don't like the thought of it... whatever it is. Im sure they have no idea. I think the objection is Reagan Airport across the river, even though the kites are just barely over the treeline and obviously nowhere near the planes. I got tired of being talked to by cops and people in black with guns so I don't ride here anymore. Bummer really because the grass is nice and the wind is decent. However, the area is really small with major consequences if you lose it (in the river or a tree). The location is not really ideal because of the small size and police. Someone selected snowkiting for this location but I cannot conceive if ever snowkiting here, mainly because there is almost never snow here. If you do want to ride here, its a buggy or mt board spot. The other spot nearby is on the spit of land between the Tidal Basin and the Potomac River near the Jefferson Monument north west of the 395. Park on Ohio Drive. Its a much better place with way more space and reasonably clean wind coming down the river and over the trees. However, this is even closer to the National Mall and the Whitehouse, etc so more Secret Service. I like kiting here but, again, tired of being yelled at. I will create a link for this spot.
